Sami Kaneda – Center Director and Teacher - is an extraordinary jazz vocalist, performer and instrumentalist. A native of Okayama City, Japan, Sami relocated to Los Angeles in 1995. Her live performances and demo tape brought her to the attention of Stix Hooper, drummer for the legendary band The Crusaders. Stix offered to serve as producer for her debut album entitled "Songs of Seven Seas" which was successfully released in USA and Japan. Since moving to San Francisco in 1999, Sami has been performing at many of the Bay Area Jazz clubs including Yoshi’s, Enrico’s, Café Niebaum-Coppola & Cosmopolitan Cafe as well as Jazz Festivals. Sami has been teaching music theory, piano, and voice lessons to children ages 4 through 7 for over 3 years as well as vocal lessons to adults.
She is an enthusiastic and confident teacher with a proven track record of success. Her first promise to kids and their parents is to make the class FUN!
